It all starts back in 1958 when our grandfather, Captain Fanis
It all starts back in 1958 when our grandfather, Captain Fanis, every summer brought his catch in the neighborhood and we all gathered around him to help him. He taught us how to hold the female flathead mullet (bafa) and carefully remove its eggs. Then, he also taught us through his own way how to treat this unique and exceptional product.
The local people in Preveza always had one botargo with them, either to enjoy it with ouzo or to offer it as a gift. Our grandfather's botargo was very popular because it stood out due to its process of preparation. From fishing to its final process. Brought up with these memories, we decided to share throughout the world this exceptional product and continue our grandfather's tradition.
